Erin has become a hurricane in the Atlantic on Friday morning and is still expected to become a major hurricane over the weekend, posing no threat to the Gulf Coast. 98L, a tropical disturbance in the west Gulf, may develop today as it moves inland near the Texas-Mexico border. Hurricane season peaks next month.
