Humid conditions may spawn severe thunderstorms this weekend, Aug. 16-17, in Michigan as rain and another bout of warm temperatures are expected.

"Mostly sunny & warm today (Aug. 15) as temps rise into the mid-upper 80s away from the shorelines of the Great Lakes," the National Weather Service in Gaylord said via X. "Shower and storm chances increase late tonight, but more so Saturday-Sat. night (Aug. 16). Locally heavy rain & an isolated strong storm will be the main concern with this activity."

Thunderstorms are forecast statewide Aug. 16-17, with severe weather covering most of the Lower Peninsula late on Saturday, Aug. 16. Hazardous weather outlooks are in place with threats of lightning, hail, heavy rain causing localized flooding and strong wind gusts up 40 mph.
