CHARLESTON — Owners of the 133 Dockside condominiums and townhomes voted overwhelming Aug. 14 against repairing the tower that city officials evacuated in February over safety and structural concerns.
All but one owner rejected the estimated $150 million repair bill , which would have on average cost each unit over $1 million, according to several owners who spoke with The Post and Courier after the results were announced.
The vote was a necessary step toward selling the property, the Dockside Board of Directors told owners in a email following the tally.
The outcome was predetermined, said Eric Paulson, an owner who has since moved to Minneapolis after the evacuation order forced him and his wife from their condo.
