Much of the cast couldn’t make this screening of The Thursday Murder Club: Celia Imrie, Naomi Ackie, David Tennant, Sarah Niles, Richard E. Grant, all missing. But we have three of the core four, and Tom Ellis, who plays Pierce’s character’s son. I know people questioned Pierce Brosnan as union rabble-rouser Ron, but I have some faith. I didn’t think he was wise casting for an Icelandic fisherman in the Eurovision movie, either, and yet somehow against the odds he was both only-okay and also very charming?!? Ben Kingsley is of course perfect as Ibrahim, as is Helen Mirren as Elizabeth, even if her feet are hiding in this photo. Can Celia Imrie capture Joyce’s outstanding blend of being a totally basic open book AND more sly than she lets on? WE SHALL SEE, but if you haven’t read the books,
