The New York Jets are reportedly trying out a pair of new quarterbacks following a key development regarding the position.
Justin Fields is understood to have struggled in training recently. However, of more concern is the fact that his backup, Tyrod Taylor, will miss the remainder of training camp after undergoing a minor procedure in his knee.
Taylor could be ready for Week 1, according to head coach Aaron Glenn. But, in the meantime, the team has brought in QBs Nathan Peterman and C.J. Beathard for workouts, per ProFootballTalk .
Peterman, a former fifth-round pick, spent last season with the Atlanta Falcons as part of their practice squad. Interestingly, he competed with Taylor for the Buffalo Bills’ starting job as a rookie in 2017 and made four starts.
