TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- Florida Spiny lobster are a delicacy to not only eat, but to catch by recreational anglers.

The regular season runs from Aug. 6 through March 31 each year, but before the season reopening, there is a two-day mini-season that runs the last Wednesday and Thursday in July each year.

This two-day mini-season is called the sportsman season where recreational anglers get a chance to harvest lobster before commercial lobster traps are put back out and the lobster get a little harder to come by.

Amanda takes advantage of this two-day season each year in the Florida Keys! The season runs from midnight Wednesday to 11:59 p.m. Thursday, but in the Keys, you cannot get in the water at night.
