HOUSTON (KIAH) — A 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of his 14-year-old brother on July 4, Harris County authorities said.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that the 13-year-old was handling the rifle when it went off at the home on the 3100 block of Gianna Springs Court last month, that resulted in the death of a 14-year-old boy.

The victim’s 17-year-old sister and their 13-year-old brother were also at the scene, deputies said.

The suspect was booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center.
