SEATTLE — For the second time this summer , Interstate 5 north will completely shut down through downtown Seattle for the weekend.

Starting late Friday night and lasting through early Monday morning, I-5 will be closed from the I-90 interchange to Northeast 45th Street, on the other side of the Ship Canal Bridge.

KING 5 has activated First Alert Traffic for this closure until Monday, which is impacting travelers across the region. During this event, KING 5 will bring you the latest information to help make you plan ahead and navigate unexpected changes in road conditions.

The Ship Canal Bridge has been down to two lanes going northbound for the last month, but will completely reopen when the closure lifts on Aug. 18.
