BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A new designation is available for Louisiana driver’s licenses or identification cards.
The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles said residents can now request to have a seizure indicator. This new designation is optional, and anyone who qualifies can have it added to their driver's license.
"This new designation aims to promote health awareness and provide critical information to law enforcement and other first responders," the agency said.
To have a seizure indicator added to driver's licenses, a seizure disorder diagnosis from a qualified medical or mental health professional is required. It can be combined with the Needs Accommodation and Autism indicator.
