CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Fewer Americans are using their spare time to pick up a book to read. Those numbers get even smaller when it comes to men and reading, especially fiction.

A Charlotte man wants to get more men enjoying books. He started a book club, just for men, hoping to make friends and encourage other men to find joy inside the pages of a book.

At the end of July, on a Thursday night in south Charlotte, the group, which meets once a month gathered around a table at Amelies French Bakery and Cafe to discuss their latest selection - Pulitzer Prize winning book The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

“I thought it was very boring. I didn’t like the way it was written,” said one of the book club members.
