CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Ninety-eight people were charged for their involvement in recent street takeovers around Charlotte, police announced on Friday .
Officers said the charges were made during the week of Aug. 11, as vehicles continue to be seized due to their involvement in the takeovers.
“Here we go again,” the police department tweeted. “Street Takeovers III - the sequel nobody asked for.”
It was not immediately clear whether those charged this week had been arrested or what specific takeovers they were allegedly involved in.
“Still illegal. Still dangerous. Still getting shut down,” police tweeted.
Police announced they had obtained criminal charges against the individuals, but have not released their identities.
