CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District Superintendent Dr. Crystal Hill is preparing for the first day of school. She told staff back in January to make sure facilities are ready for day one of class.

“There is no excuse for students and staff to come to a school that is not cleaned,” Dr. Hill said. “And it’s not in good working order. Students and staff spend the vast majority of their time with us and so it’s my expectation that they are in a great environment to learn and to work.”

Hill admits taking care of district’s nearly 200 schools is huge, but she expects the job to get done. She said a clean school can help promote academic achievement. Hill has seen preliminary test scores and is optimistic that academic achievement is happening. Test results will be re
