Police publicly identified the man who was shot and killed inside a North Portland motel this week as 41-year-old Philip Edward Redmon.

Officers responded to the Super Value Inn on North Interstate Avenue near Killingsworth Street around 7:50 p.m. on Monday and found a man dead from a gunshot wound, Portland police said.

Police said a suspect or suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. A medical examiner said Redmon’s cause of death was homicide.

Redmon is the 25th person killed by homicide in Portland this year, compared with 48 at this point in 2024.
