A dome of heat will build into the plains and upper Midwest starting today and will continue expanding across the region this weekend.

Expect sunny skies and unseasonably warm temperatures this afternoon, with highs reaching the middle 80’s to lower 90’s.

Strong storms will be a possibility for this evening (potentially after 5 p.m. in our northwestern hometowns), continuing into the overnight hours. The Storm Prediction Center has put the TV6 viewing area at a Level 1 to Level 2 risk for severe weather, with the primary threats being damaging winds, some heavy rain.
