FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WV News) — In June 2020, WVU Medicine purchased the Fairmont Medical Center, saving the hospital from closing its doors for good.
Now, just over five years later, the Fairmont Medical Center has grown to include 72 beds, employ 380 full-time medical professionals and see roughly 20,000 emergency patients per year, in addition to outpatient and inpatient visitors. It's a transformation that Fairmont Medical Center Chief Operations Officer Aaron Yanuzo said is paramount to the evolving health care needs of Marion County.
"Marion County is one of the largest counties with one of the largest aging populations in the state, so there's a wealth of health care needs," Yanuzo said. "We want to deliver those care needs where people want to go, which is their own backyard. ... Bei
