Shellstock, one of the highlights of the summer in Westport, is taking a year off.

The yearly fund-raiser for the Shellfish Propagation Fund is usually held at the Westport Fairgrounds on the third Saturday in August, but harbormaster Bill Chace said it’s been canceled this year due to scheduling difficulties with the Funky White Honkies, the event’s long-running house band.

“The question then was, ‘Can we find somebody else? But it was hard to pivot and we decided to give it a year off.”

Though Shellfish is off, it will return next summer. In the meantime, Chace said there will be a fund-raiser benefiting the propagation fund on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Buzzards Bay Brewing. The honkies will play.
