FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Public art is coming soon to streets across Fort Wayne.
From Saturday, August 16 to Sunday, August 24, local and regional artists will be painting murals on the city’s storm drains, with their artwork sharing an environmental message - “only rain in the drain”.
The pieces are part of Downtown Fort Wayne and Fort Wayne City Utilities’ ‘Clean Drains Fort Wayne’ program, which combines art, education, and environmental stewardship into a citywide visual gallery.
The program raises awareness that everything that enters our storm drains flows directly into our waterways.
Since its launch in 2021, more than 130 storm drain murals have been completed.
This year, the mural installations overlap with Open Streets and Taste of the Arts.
