(NewsNation) — Drinkmate has issued a recall for more than 100,000 carbonation bottles because they may explode during use, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The "1L Carbonation Bottles" were recalled Aug. 14 due to the potential for an explosion, which could result in lacerations, impact injuries and hearing damage to both consumers and bystanders. The recall affects approximately 106,200 bottles sold in the United States and an additional 5,000 bottles sold in Canada.

The bottles were sold online at Walmart.com, Amazon.com, Target.com, HomeDepot.com and iDrinkproducts.com from April 2023 through October 2024.

The bottles are used to make carbonated water and were sold individually for $20 or as part of a "Drinkmate Omnifizz starter kit" for $130.
