ATLANTA — Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff held a news conference Thursday to urge Republicans to "reverse course" on the expiration of subsidies tied to the Affordable Care Act healthcare exchange that he argued will result in significant increases in the cost of health insurance for many people.

The Democrat warned of a "massive increase in health insurance premiums that's coming swiftly," putting the number at 20-40% and thousands of dollars in real terms.

Organizations such as the Kaiser Family Foundation have also warned health insurance prices could rise with the end of the enhanced pandemic-era subsidies. Under the budget bill passed this year that President Donald Trump termed the "Big, Beautiful Bill" the subsidies will expire.
