KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Our friend Ken Schwall, a beloved WBIR journalist who, for 36 years, covered many of the most uplifting, humorous and memorable stories in our station's history, died this week. He was 79.

Ken's family announced his funeral arrangements on Friday. They are inviting anyone who knew him to attend his memorial service on Saturday, Aug. 23.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fairview Church in Maryville at 2508 Old Niles Ferry Rd. Ken's funeral will follow immediately after at 4 p.m.

“Anyone who loved or knew Ken is welcome," his wife Corina Schwall said.
