A middle school librarian in Longmeadow was arrested Wednesday on a child pornography charge after investigators found more than 100 illicit images on his phone and items for young children, including a Santa costume and apple sauce packets, in a locked case at his home, federal prosecutors said.

Scott McGinley, 55, of Holyoke, was charged with one count of distribution of child pornography. He was due to be arraigned in federal court in Boston on Wednesday, Massachusetts US Attorney Leah B. Foley’s office said.

McGinley, a librarian for Williams Middle School and Glenbrook Middle School, allegedly distributed child sexual abuse materials to a group called “Little boyz only” on an encrypted messaging application in July, prosecutors said.
