FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne Community School (FWCS) elementary students will head back to class this year with brand-new backpacks and the supplies they need thanks to a donation from Costco and the generosity of Fort Wayne Community Schools staff.

Costco donated 380 backpacks to FWCS.

Throughout the year, employees raised money through the district’s “Friday Jeans Day” fundraiser where staff donate a few dollars in exchange for wearing jeans to work.

Those contributions purchased the pencils, notebooks, crayons, and other essentials now filling each backpack.

On Friday afternoon, volunteers gathered at the Wendy Y. Robinson Family and Community Engagement Center to pack the backpacks and get them ready for distribution.
