The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 37-year-old inmate who was found unresponsive in his bunk bed at the county jail on Friday, according to a news release.

Deputies and medical staff at the jail began rendering lifesaving efforts around 4:27 a.m. Medics from American Medical Response and Colorado Springs firefighters arrived at the jail at 4:38 a.m., and the inmate was pronounced dead at 4:57 a.m., the Sheriff's Office said in the release.

Investigators said they did not find any obvious signs of foul play, self-harm or assault.

The coroner will release the inmate's name as well as his cause and manner of death after performing an autopsy.
