WATERVILLE, Ohio — A Waterville firefighter and paramedic was physically assaulted by a person they were responding to an emergency call for Friday afternoon, the department said in a press release.
The firefighter, who is not identified in the press release, suffered minor bruising and scrapes and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The suspect, who is also not identified, was taken into custody by Waterville Township police "and is currently facing charges related to the incident," the fire department said.
Emergency crews were dispatched to an overdose call for a patient around 3 p.m., and when they arrived, the patient approached them and the medical unit began assessing them.
