LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln’s Food Fort is asking for some help after its school bus was burglarized last weekend.
The nonprofit makes weekly stops at the Clinton, Saratoga and West Lincoln neighborhoods to deliver food, supplies and tutoring to students and families.
Mason Keim, the program’s fundraising director, said workers arrived on Monday to find someone had cut the lock on their school bus, stealing a generator, the hitch used to pull the refrigerated trailer, and the blocks used to hold that trailer in place when it’s parked.
“This occurred right after the weekend when we had the big windstorm and the rain,” Keim said. “Hopefully whoever took it really needed it.”
The generator was used to power the bus’s air conditioning and heating, along with keeping food warm during d
