LIBERTY, Ohio (WKBN) — Liberty volleyball opened up the 2025 campaign with a 3-1 victory (25-23, 16-25, 25-12, 25-12) over East Canton on Friday night.

It is the first varsity win for head coach Nicolette Frketic, as the Leopards improve to 1-0 to start the season.

Liberty was led in kills and digs by Zardai Banks (7 kills, 4 aces, 12 digs) while Kiera Thigpen notched the most aces and assists in the match (10 aces, 7 assists).

Tamia Lyons (6 kills, 4 solo blocks) and Kennedy Malone (6 kills, 7 digs) were both also key contributors to the Leopards' win.

Next, Liberty will travel to take on East Palestine on Monday, Aug. 18.
