DENVER (KDVR) — A man has been sentenced to 54 years in prison in a 2023 shooting incident that resulted in the death of one teen and injured another one, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

On Friday, the DA's office said in a press release that Orest Schur, 29, has been sentenced after an Adams County jury found him guilty of second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder on June 16.

The DA's office said the incident occurred in Aurora in the 19000 block of East 59th Place on July 5, 2023, at around 11 p.m. The Aurora Police Department at that time said the shooting occurred after two teens, a 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy, allegedly tried to break into Schur's vehicle outside his home.
