CARLTON, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A young country music singer from the Northland is chasing her dreams in Nashville while still making time to inspire kids back home.

Abrianna Schmidt, a Carlton native, first caught national attention when she won the Country Music Hall of Fame songwriting competition.

Since then, she has performed in front of thousands, released her own songs and is now preparing to sing the national anthem for the Milwaukee Brewers on Aug. 25.

Schmidt said her musical journey began thanks to the teachers who supported her when she was young.
