HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - New details are emerging about the man suspected in a Chinatown acid attack one week ago .

Honolulu police identified the suspect as Marquis Johnson , 34, who remains on the run at last check Friday.

When HPD released Johnson’s photo as the suspect, friends and longtime acquaintances were shocked, saying it was completely out of character.

Samuel Pastore-Braden met Johnson about a decade ago through a language club.

“He seemed kind-hearted. He was soft spoken, friendly, chipper, and very polite,” he said, also remembering him as a creative person who was into fashion, dance, and is multilingual.
