PORTLAND, Ore. — This weekend, downtown Portland is the place to be to see some of the world's best skateboarders as the Rockstar Energy Open returns to the Rose City.

Kick-flipping the weekend into high gear on Friday, the free event at Tom McCall Waterfront Park includes three days, two parks and one of the coolest events of the summer for skateboarding fans like Xavier Rodriguez.

"I've always been wanting to see some pros skate, and now's the chance," Rodrigeuz told KGW. "I mean, they're all here ... some of the greatest."

The line-up of world-class skateboarders include multiple Olympic medalists and up-and-comers — with live music and street art.

"There's not a lot of things that are free these days," pointed out Christian Thomas, Rockstar Energy Open's director of partnership
