LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police are under pressure as two mothers were killed within hours of each other on Wednesday, Aug. 13, in west Louisville.
Much of the outrage has been directed at the death of 23-year-old Redaja Williams, who was shot and killed while walking her child to her school bus stop. Police believe she was directly targeted.
However, hours later, police say 28-year-old Jermia Offutt was shot and killed as an innocent bystander when shots were fired from a nearby parking lot. She was a mother of three and was four months pregnant.
LMPD said the cases are not connected, and that there were eyewitnesses–but the killers in either case have not been caught.
