STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A new sign has been installed on Richmond Road, near Historic Richmond Town, warning drivers to slow down.

Except this one wasn’t put up by the Department of Transportation.

A utility pole near the intersection of Richmond Road and St. Patricks Place in Richmond now bears a sign reading: “In A Hurry? Do Not Drive On This Road!”

It’s not known exactly when the sign was installed, but it was noticed by the Advance/SILIve.com near the beginning of August.

The sign was positioned to face traffic on Richmond Road heading toward Arthur Kill Road. No other sign was seen installed on the opposite side of the street.
