BEMIDJI — When Isaac Lovdahl heard the Bemidji Chorale was looking for a new artistic director, he was hoping to get a call.

That wish came true, and the second-year music professor at Bemidji State is excited to take the Chorale’s baton.

“I hadn't wanted to step on any toes or insert myself,” Lovdahl said, “but I was sort of secretly hoping they would ask me when I heard they were looking for a new director. I really relish the opportunity to make music in a more community-oriented setting.”

Lovdahl takes over from James Bowyer, who directed the Chorale the past two years. Bowyer recently joined the music faculty at East Texas A&M University.
