A new housing estate on the edge of a Leicestershire village has been approved. Concerns had been raised by opponents that the proposal would "cause a hazard".

The plans, put forward by Richborough and Martin John Hambleton, looked to create 75 new homes on fields off Midland Road, in Ellistown, near Coalville . The outline application, which sought permission for the homes in principle with further details to be decided at a later date, split the planning committee North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) after a number of concerns had been raised about the development.
