NEW ORLEANS — Less than 24 hours after a Friday, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell was a no-show at the unveiling of a at Union Passenger Terminal.
Dignitaries from Louisiana, Mississippi, and officials from Amtrak and the New Orleans tourism industry were present to announce the first departure of the Mardi Gras line.
Cantrell was listed as a guest speaker on the event itinerary, but was absent from the public appearance.
This would have been her first public appearance since the DOJ announced their findings of the investigation with led to a grand jury indictment.
The Indictment
The superseding indictment from the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana, charges Cantrell and Jeffrey Vappie, a member of Cantrell’s Executive Protection Unit, with:
