(KRON) – A staple Santa Cruz hamburger joint will flip its last burger on Sunday.
Betty’s Burgers has announced the closure of its downtown Santa Cruz location after 15 years of being in business on its Facebook.
The eatery says it was a “tough call,” but due to slower foot traffic and fewer visitors, Betty’s says it's been “harder to thrive.” The restaurant also said the city’s "downtown environment" was another reason for closure.

Dozens of patrons commented on the social media post. A Facebook user commented that they no longer felt comfortable in Santa Cruz’s downtown area. Many people asked Betty’s to expand beyond Santa Cruz and even California.
“Come to Texas! Miss those damn burgers and us Texans wou
