We're gearing up for a significant weather day here across Northern Illinois and the surrounding areas, and the top priority is the potential for storms.
The atmosphere is primed for thunderstorms. One line of storms has already moved through bringing gusty wind and large hail. Several reports of large hail were received from McHenry county. Another line of organized strong to damaging-wind-producing storms is possible later this evening over parts of our region. We'll be watching these storms closely as they move through, with the primary threats being damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall.
While widespread flooding looks less likely, localized issues are certainly possible. Additional storms could even pop up overnight, though the most favored zone appears to be just northwest of us.
