The road to the Hoh Rain Forest in the Olympic National Park reopened on Saturday after flooding.
The Upper Hoh Road near milepost 1.24 closed on Friday after a weather system brought 3 inches of unseasonal rain to the Olympic Peninsula on Friday. The rain flooded a construction site on the road, a news release states.
“There’s some culvert work being done, and there was some concerned that the road was an imminent danger of potentially collapsing,” Jared Low, a National Park Service spokesperson, said. “So (there) was a decision to just evacuate all the Hoh area employees and visitors.”
Low said the area was deemed safe for travel on Saturday morning.
