Gunfire broke out on a Swift Orange Line bus in Mill Creek Saturday evening, after a fight on board spilled outside, leading to broken windows and shaken passengers, but no injuries, according to police.

Police are investigating what led to the shooting, which was reported around 5 p.m. at the 164th Street Southeast and Mill Creek Boulevard bus stop.

“We don’t know what it was about or what started it. We just know there was some kind of altercation,” said Mill Creek detective Sgt. Rod Fleming.

Fleming said there was a “group of juveniles” on the bus when two more boarded at the stop. One of them got off and shot at the bus, he said, and some of them still on board shot back.

No one was struck, Fleming said, but windows on the bus were shattered.

All of the assailants reportedly fled.
