FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Master Gardeners and Main Street Fairmont held the 16th Annual Tomato Festival Saturday on Monroe Street in downtown Fairmont.

Local growers were invited to enter their tomatoes in categories such as best tasting large, best tasting cherry, heaviest, most unusual, people’s choice and ugliest tomato. There was also a Tomato tasting that took place inside the old Fairmont Firehouse and live music from Austin Glaspell. Contestants were asked to bring four to five large tomatoes or at least 30 cherry tomatoes for judging.

"We have a seed library at our public library where we have collected seeds all day here and they will be up at the library once they are processed and dried. So, the community can go up and get tomatoes, and we like them to share some back, if
