MINIDOKA, Idaho — Emergency responders rescued a man who was pinned under a derailed train car Friday evening in a technical rescue operation that required heavy equipment and airbags.

The Minidoka County Fire Protection District's Northside Station responded to a call at 875 East 940 North on Aug. 15 shortly after 8 p.m., along with Emergency Response Ambulance, Life Flight 81 and the Minidoka Sheriff's Department.

According to the fire district, crews found a train derailment with one car lying on its side. A male victim was trapped underneath the car from his lower extremities but remained conscious and breathing.
