Defense lawyers are asking that murder charges against a Cohasset man accused of killing his wife be dismissed, contending that the Norfolk District Attorney’s office moved too slowly to hand over text messages from former State Police investigator Michael Proctor .

The dismissal motion could be discussed Thursday in Norfolk Superior Court, where Superior Court Judge Michael P. Doolin will hold the latest hearing in the case against Brian R. Walshe.

In papers filed Tuesday, defense lawyers contend that Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey’s office has possession of federal records that include text messages from Proctor that became known during the Karen Read murder trial .
