BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. —

A Western North Carolina man has been arrested and charged with murder, according to the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office.

A representative told WYFF that deputies responded to calls about a gunshot victim on Old NC 20 Highway in Alexander on Saturday. This was just after 10pm.

They say 43-year-old Jason Gary Cole from Weaverville died before they deputies got there. Soon after, 35-year-old Patrick Tucker Wood was arrested and charged for second degree murder. Deputies say he's being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility with no bond.
