Paducah officer who died had underlying condition triggered by stress of recent shooting, police chief says

PADUCAH, Ky. (KFVS) - Paducah Police say they are mourning the loss of Sergeant Ryan Hudson.

Officers say Sgt. Hudson died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 12.

During a news conference on Friday, August 15, Paducah Police Chief Brian Laird said Sgt. Hudson was one of the supervisors over the recent shooting at a Paducah nightclub , in which a pregnant woman died and two other women were injured.

He said Sgt. Hudson started to feel unwell during his shift, but continued to work. By the end of his Saturday night shift, Chief Laird said Sgt. Hudson became too ill to continue working and went home early.

The chief said his condition worsened and Sgt. Hudson was admitted to the hospital on Monday morning. He passed away on Tuesday evening.

According to Chief Laird, it was determined Sgt.
