A former Millis man who threatened to kill Jewish children and blow up two Massachusetts synagogues and the Israeli consulate in Boston was ordered to serve 2 1/2 years in prison at a sentencing hearing in US District Court in Boston on Thursday, federal prosecutors said.

John M. Reardon, 60, pleaded guilty in November to obstruction of the free exercise of religion by threat, threatening to injure people using interstate commerce, and stalking a facility using interstate commerce.

Reardon contacted synagogues in Attleboro and Sharon and made the threats in January 2024 . He also called the Israeli consulate 98 times between Oct. 7, 2023, and January 2024, recor
