An Edinburgh man was arrested and 'tased' during an incident today in the Fountainbridge area.

Police rushed to the scene after they received a report of a "disturbance" near Union Canal.

The incident took place at around 1.45pm on Sunday, August 17. Photos from the scene show multiple police vehicles.

In one image, seven officers can be seen surrounding the man.

A taser was discharged during the incident. A 47-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.45pm on Sunday, 17 August, 2025, we received a report of a disturbance near to Union Canal in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh.
