MACON, Ga. — Two Northeast High School graduates with disabilities signed to attend Georgia College and State University's THRIVE program during a ceremony organized by Scheve's Artistic Creations Fox Foundation.

Stephun Minniefield and Isaiah Smith will enter the two-year program this fall, which allows students with disabilities to live on campus and attend classes for a full college experience.

Former teacher Schevetress Morgan organized the signing day to mirror traditional athletic signing ceremonies. Morgan said she created the event after learning during COVID that her students could no longer receive regular high school diplomas through the access program.

"I looked to find a program for all of my students and landed on GCSU," Morgan said.
