FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Three LGBTQ+ couples were married in Fort Wayne on Saturday.

At 10:30 p.m., community members came together at After Dark Nightclub as local drag queen Della Licious, known out of drag as Branden Blaettner, officiated.

The matrimony follows a formal appeal from former Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis to the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges, a landmark ruling that extended marriage rights to same-sex couples across the country .

While the appeal has not yet been added to the U.S. Supreme Court’s agenda, Blaettner says Saturday was about being proactive.

“I may be overreacting,” said Blaettner, “but I would rather overreact than not react at all.”
