THE BAHAMAS, — A passenger aboard the Carnival Elation, which departed from the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal Thursday for a four-night cruise, drowned in the Bahamas Friday, according to a news release from the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
The cruise line confirmed the passenger was sailing aboard the Elation, and was one of two passengers reported drowned Friday in separate incidents on Celebration Key, Carnival's private island in the Bahamas.
Carnival said the second passenger was sailing aboard the Mardi Gras, which left Port Canaveral August 9 on a seven-night cruise.
Royal Bahamas Police said one passenger, a 79-year-old American man, was found unresponsive shortly after noon Friday. A lifeguard pulled him from the water and administered CPR, but he was pronounced dead. Police said he w
