Countryfile host John Craven was compelled to make an embarrassing confession after forgetting an essential item during a recent segment on the BBC show.

The veteran presenter, 85, explored Yorkshire's fascinating history in the latest episode, broadcast on Sunday evening (August 17), examining the historical importance of the River Nidd.

John travelled to the waterway in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, where he met Adrian Sturdy, who spends his free time working to keep the river clean.
